Welcome to State Capitol Events Permits Website
The Department of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is responsible for issuing permits. There is no cost for obtaining a permit and permits will be processed on a first-come first-served basis. The CHP does not provide any equipment for the events (PA System, Stage, etc.). Processing permits generally takes 3-5 business days, but may take up to 10 business days. To get started, check availability by clicking Calendar and fill out an application by clicking Submit An Application. Event size may be restricted, as evaluated, and assessed by law enforcement with concern for public safety as the determining factor.
